Understanding the Challenge
Investigating Provided Information
Project Requirement Review, founding team Interview
I scheduled 3 meetings in this phase to get to know and understand the PRD as well as the perspective of the founding team. The founding team consists of 6 dental professionals boasting over 50 years post graduate experience altogether. On these calls I was learning about their motivations, expectations, current situation and ideal results for Intaglio.
INSIGHTS
As all members of the founding team were practicing dentists, it was obvious they shared a collective motivation and perception to create a space for personal and career developments
No one on the team had a tech or digital product background or experience
All documentations in the Project Requirement Document were put together fully by the founding team with very little influence from other professionals who would potentially be users.
Even though they had a very high level vision of what Intaglio should be, they had no clue how to get there or what to put in place
Research beyond founding team
With the help of the founding team and a pre-collected waitlist of potential users, we identified a diverse group of current and emerging professionals that could either be mentees or mentors. The objective was to thoroughly understand their primary needs, motivations, challenges, and obstacles. This process aimed to establish a shared understanding and consensus on the actual requirements, creating a comprehensive knowledge base for the platform's development.

There's a strong interest in peer-to-peer learning and community support features like forums and general topic discussion areas, indicating that users value collaborative environments for shared growth and networking.
Industry leaders who will most likely be mentors and instructors all emphasized a need for an easy-to-use interface to create availability, input masterclass content as well as post course support.
Competitive analysis
Market research, examining both direct and indirect competitors in order to identify current design conventions and prioritize product features, as well as identify opportunities to stand out and differentiate the product.
INSIGHTS
Finding relevant resources, courses and forums are an industry need. Filters and categorization are just as important as hosting them.
The flexibility of learning formats (live, recorded, self-paced) can greatly enhance the user experience and meet the varied needs of dental professionals.
Most of the platforms investigated only prioritize one of the following: Community/networking, Mentorship, Learning

Creating a Strategy
What to create and how to do it (The Plan)
I organized a series of workshops, presentations, surveys, and analyses to align stakeholders, capture their needs, concerns, and ideas, and establish a shared understanding of the competitive landscape, the product, and its vision.
After creating a phased development plan, we worked on what should be part of our MVP and what should be part of later releases
What is Intaglio’s value Proposition?
After our series of brainstorming and planning sessions where we defined what we needed to do and how to do it.
"Intaglio offers personalized mentorship and cutting-edge professional development for dental professionals, integrating live masterclasses, CPD tracking, and a vibrant community, all within an intuitive, user-friendly platform designed to elevate your dental career."
